We're a group of resarchers interested in the design of embedded streaming systems. A streaming system is where data flows through the embedded systems at a (relatively) constant rate from a sampled input, and the job of the embedded system is to apply some smart mathematics to change it into some output data. Streaming systems are found everywhere, but two good examples are digital signal and image processing systems. We're interested generally in all aspects of designing streaming algorithms, embedded architectures, design methodologies and tools, but at the minute wer'e focussing on synthesising actor-oriented models of streaming systems to Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The material you see on this website is changing quite quickly, so be sure to check back again soonn. We'll be expanding the material here in short order, be sure and check back. In the meantime, if you want to know more, please get in touch.

---
Chu's work on software radio architectures for real-time sphere detection for 802.11n has just been published by IEEE Trans. Signal Processing - open access. Get the full text here.
14th September 2012: esDF-C to FPGA Compiler: First Results
---
We're getting the first results from our eSDF-C to FPGA compiler....and very impressive they are too. Check out the video here.
26th June 2012: Matt's going to Samos
---
eStreams have some really promising work published at Samos this year. Matt's paper entitled "Automatic FPGA Synthesis of Memory Intensive C-based Kernels" describes his compiler, which converts a C specification of image processing kernels to FPGA circuits. Some very promising results - unique real-time Full Search Motion Estimation, Matrix Multiplication and Sobel Edge Detection architectures generated. It's presented on Tuesday 16th July on Samos. If you're attending Samos, track down Matt and John, both will be there.
13th June 2012: Chu's paper into IEEE Trans. Signal Processing
---
Chu's paper describing his software radio platform for MIMO detection has been accepted for publication in IEEE Trans. Signal Processing. It's called "Software-Defined Sphere Decoding for FPGA-based MIMO Detection" and so far as we can see, it's the highest performance software radio there is. More information here when it's out.
