Adele Gamble,
a former pupil of Banbridge Academy graduated with a 1st
class MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering this
year. In addition she scooped a number of prestigious
prizes awarded at a special ceremony held in our School on
Graduation Day.
The first of
these was the Frost-Smith Memorial Prize for achieving the
best overall performance in the graduating MEng class
Adele also won two industrially
funded prizes. The IceMOS Technology prize was awarded for
her outstanding project work in the field of advanced
Nanoelectronics.
Her project focused
on the growth of ultra-thin gate oxide layers down to 10nm in
thickness for high performance CMOS integrated circuits.
The
project was
supervised by Dr. Neil Mitchell
and has yielded key information that will be valuable in
the nanotechnology research programme at Queen’s.
The William L. Everitt Award of
Excellence honoured outstanding academic achievement coupled
with professional interests and activities.
